At Thistle DKI in Las Vegas we are ready should you ever need any assistance with a big mess, caused by a natural disaster, fire, flood, or something altogether different. However, we know that you want to help maintain the cleanliness and beauty of your home on a regular basis, and for that reason we would like to offer you some tips on how to make all natural, homemade cleaners for one of the most important rooms in your house, the kitchen.

You can start by making an easy, all purpose cleaner with your lime, orange, and/or lemon peels. Place the peels in a glass jar, lightly covering them with salt, and allow them to sit for about 20 minutes. Next, fill the glass jar with vinegar, put on the tight fitting lid and allow it to sit for 2-3 weeks. The longer you allow it to sit, the better. Strain the liquid into a spray bottle and use on all of your surfaces, you can use it as a floor cleaner as well, and diluted in water it can be used as a window and glass cleaner.

Make an all natural dishwashing liquid using some of your all purpose cleaner and a few other ingredients! You will need the following:

- ½ cup liquid castile soap, unscented is preferred for this recipe
- ⅛ cup water- 4 drops of essential oil, using your favorite scent
- 1 teaspoon of your all purpose cleaner or 1 teaspoon of vinegar

Mix the ingredients and place them either in an old liquid dish soap bottle or put in a hand soap dispenser.

Use four simple ingredients to make an all natural fruit and vegetable wash.
- ½ white vinegar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 cup filtered water

Mix in a spray bottle if you wish to spray the fruit and vegetable, or soak them using a colander and a bowl. Let them sit in the mixture for 10 minutes and rinse with cold water. That’s it. Clean produce, produce cleaner.

Clean your crock pot with ease. How wonderful are crockpots? You want to make sure that you give yours a thorough cleaning after each use, being especially vigorous when there is baked on food. Fill the crock pot ⅔ full of water and add ¾ a cup of distilled vinegar. Cover and “cook” on high for a few hours. If there is particularly stubborn food stuck to the sides you may have to scrub it.

While we are on the subject of important kitchen appliances, our next suggestion is to clean your coffee pot with two simple ingredients. Water and vinegar are all you will need. Fill the machine with 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water and run the cycle as if you were making coffee. You do not need to include a filter. The water will begin to trickle out in a cloudy white color. Run the machine twice more with water only to ensure you rid it of any vinegar taste. That’s it. Simple, right?

If you try some of these cleaners and find them successful, keep in mind that there are so many other options of natural cleaners for the rest of your home as well. Should you find that your home is in need of a deep cleaning and restoration after a disaster of any kind, remember that Thistle DKI is here to help. Give us a call, (702) 871-8462.
