You stepped into a very diffucult situation and turned it around such that our involvement with the insurance company and adjuster was minimum. You not only restored our home, but made it better.  House fires are a serious emergency. They are scary and potentially very destructive. As you know, they shouldn’t be taken lightly. Still, when you’re in that situation, you may get frightened and forget what you should or shouldn’t do. Which is why Thistle DKI (experts in property restoration in Las Vegas) has this list, so you know what to avoid doing to get out of a fire harmless.

What Not to Do in Case of A Fire

Panic!
Fire is scary but you need to keep a leveled head! Your reaction to this emergency will determine if you’ll be able to make it out without any major injury or not.

Take Personal Belongings
Your laptop is very important, but is it worth risking your well-being for? Looking for things to take on your way out, will take precious time. Plus, your movement may also be compromised!

Forget Important
ThingsThat being said, you may want to bring your wallet and cellphone with you (only if they’re close enough). They have essential items that will help you deal with the aftermath.

Not Check
You may just want to run out, but if you don’t know where the fire originated, be careful! Check how warm the doors/walls are before going into other rooms, so you know you aren’t getting closer to the fire.

Not Bewaring the Smoke
Smoke is one of the most dangerous things about a fire! That’s why it’s extra important to cover your mouth/nose with a piece of cloth to avoid breathing it in and staying low!

Not Alert Others
You need to be safe, but you may also want to alert your family or neighbors so they can get out too! Try setting an alarm or using some kind of device to let them know they should get moving!

Use Elevators
Always use the stairs in case of an emergency! The elevator and its electrical system may be wrecked, so don’t risk it. Plus, they can take an extra long time and you need to hurry!

Go Back In
If you’ve made it safely outside, don’t go back inside unless the firefighters say you can do so! You don’t know if the structure has been severely damage or if there are any toxic fumes rummaging around!
